IC Image Processing: Sylvania's state-of-the-art image processing adjusts the digital video signal in four steps, maximizing picture quality to the LCD panel's full potential.

In the first step, pixelating noise is cleaned up to produce a smoother image.

Next, Sylvania's color management adjusts each color independently to enrich the entire palette on the screen.

Contrast is adjusted and enhanced dynamically for the scene currently on display. Sylvania's edge enhancement then sharpens details and reduces 'jaggies.'

The 6626LG delivers a true 1366 x 768-pixel HDTV resolution (capable of displaying 1080i and 720p high-definition signals), and it features a wide 176-degree viewing angle, 550 cd/m2 (candela per square meter) brightness rating--perfect for viewing colorful details in even direct sunlight--and high 1000:1 contrast ratio. (The higher the contrast ratio, the greater a TV's ability to display subtle color details and not get washed out by ambient room light.) It also offers a very fast 8ms (millisecond) response time, which is great for watching fast-moving sports and action movies.

The 3D comb filter further enhances resolution by removing blurred edges between colors and reducing dot crawl (tiny, moving dots of color along a sharp color separation in a vertical line, as in a depiction of a character's striped T-shirt). Other features include standard picture controls (contrast, brightness, color, tint, sharpness), trilingual onscreen display (English, French, Spanish), sleep timer, closed caption decoder, and V-Chip parental controls.

This set includes two bottom-mounted stereo speakers that provide 5 watts of power per channel (for 10 watts of total power), and it provides a digital coaxial audio output for connecting to a home theater receiver for immersive surround sound. It has the following connection options:

HDMI is a lossless, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface to link any audio/video source (such as a set-top box, DVD player, or AV receiver) to your TV--all over a single cable. HDMI supports standard, enhanced, or high-definition video, plus multi-channel digital audio, on a single cable. It supports all ATSC formats--standard (SDTV), enhanced (EDTV), and high (HDTV).

Component Video (also called Y/Pb/Pr) features a three-jack video input, which provides separate connections for luminance (Y), blue color difference (PB), and red color difference (PR). This results in increased bandwidth for color information, resulting in a more accurate picture with clearer color reproduction and less bleeding than you would get with S-Video or composite (RCA yellow video plug) connections. You will need a separate RCA left/right audio cable for sound.

Response Time refers specifically to LCD monitors and the amount of time it takes for a liquid crystal cell to switch from active (black) to inactive (white) and back again. It's measured in milliseconds (ms), and the lower the number the faster the response time--translating to a smoother picture with fewer pixilated or ghosted artifacts.
