Key Features

Full HD 1080p Resolution: Experience Full HD 1080p picture quality, the highest at-home resolution, and take full advantage of HD sources like a Blu-ray Disc Player or PlayStation3 gaming console via the 16:9 wide screen panel (1920 x 1080).

Motionflow 120Hz Technology: Experience smooth motion detail and clarity with Motionflow 120Hz technology. Motionflow 120Hz technology doubles the frame rate from the standard 60 frames per second and applies Image Blur Reduction technology to deliver a crisp, fluid and realistic viewing experience during fast-action scenes.

LightSensor Technology: Automatically increase or decrease the level of brightness of your TV's backlight based on a room's lighting conditions with the integrated LightSensor technology. Dim the lights to watch a movie and the sensor dims the backlight, which also helps reduce unnecessary power consumption.

Ambient Sensor: Get a natural looking picture whether you are watching movies late at night or playing video games during the day with an Ambient Sensor that automatically adjusts the picture color based on a room's lighting.

BRAVIA Engine 2: Enjoy sharp, vibrant, life-like images while optimizing color and contrast and significantly reducing noise with the BRAVIA Engine 2 fully digital processor.

6 HD Inputs: Get versatile HD connection options with 6 HD inputs, including 4 HDMI inputs to connect a Blu-ray Disc player, PlayStation3 gaming console or any other HDMI-capable equipment. Two HD component inputs provide added HD-capable connectivity, while a PC input (HD-15 pin) lets you use your HDTV as a computer monitor.

24p True Cinema: Movies consist of 24 images per second, and cannot be faithfully reproduced on conventional televisions, resulting in unnatural, jerky movements. But 24p True Cinema displays the 24 progressive images as they should be, in the same sequence as the original film source. Now, you can recreate the visual clarity of cinema-quality movies in the comfort of your own home.

USB Input: Share your photos on the big screen or listen to your favorite music. Simply connect your digital camera, USB-enabled MP3 player, or USB storage device directly to your HDTV's USB input.

BRAVIA Sync Compatible: Conveniently operate and control other BRAVIA Sync compatible devices--including BRAVIA HDTVs, Blu-ray Disc Players, surround sound systems, Handycam camcorders and Cyber-shot digital still cameras, all with one remote control.

VESA-compatible hole spacing uses an industry-standard mounting-hole pattern that can be used with VESA-compliant mounting brackets, taking the guesswork out of selecting the proper hardware for hanging your TV on the wall.

HDTV Size chart
Which Size HDTV is Right for My Room?
With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that you can sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. So with HDTVs, the rule tends to be you can sit anywhere from 1.5 to 3 times the screen size (in inches) for the best experience.

If you know the size of the room you have already, where you want to sit, and where your new HDTV should go once you get it, you can figure out the size HDTV you should get.

  • Minimum size = Viewing distance/3
  • Maximum size=Viewing distance/1.5

4.0 out of 5 stars This seems like the first review for this tv on the whole internet, March 10, 2010

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Sony BRAVIA EX 500 Series 32-Inch LCD TV, Black (Electronics)
So I bought this tv without reading a single review, because there wasn't any. I wanted specifically a 32" 120hz set because it is going to be in a small room, any bigger would have been overkill, and this fit the bill.

I upgraded from a Samsung 26" 720p (LN26A330), which I had no complaints at all about, but really wanted 1080p since this is hooked up to a home theatre/gaming pc and I could use the extra resolution. I compared these tv's side by side after getting the sony, and was really surprised how much better the sony's picture was (I was using 720p on both for fair comparison, playing identical sources).

Pros
-Very bright picture, which is good for the day time
-Blu Rays do look amazing, just adjust the settings to personal preference
-True Cinema 24p mode does seem to play movies at true 24p (I set the htpc output to 24hz to accomplish this)
-Motionflow works really nicely on some blu-rays, definitely not for all movies...Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Sony BRAVIA EX 500 Series 32-Inch LCD TV, Black, My first LCD TV, April 23, 2010
This review is from: Sony BRAVIA EX 500 Series 32-Inch LCD TV, Black (Electronics)
Well I've had my new TV for about a month now and it works as advertised. Excellent picture and vary fast refresh rate so no smearing during high rates of picture movement. I've played with most of the settings and right this moment I'm just using the standard display. I have used the 15 pin D connection to display HULU from my laptop and it works very well. I've also played with the sound settings and after using steady sound and clear voice went back to just standard settings. Music is very negatively impacted by using these setting to the point that movies especially have a very flat sound to them making it feel like your watching a pre-relase take before the music background was added.

One thing that most people not having had a wide screen TV before should be aware of that without getting the HD feed you are losing a good portion of the reason for getting a TV of this type. I was using normal cable connection with just a standard feed and the TV display looked like...Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Great picture.. however has its flaws, December 28, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sony BRAVIA EX 500 Series 32-Inch LCD TV, Black (Electronics)
I've had this television for a good two months and i think it's a good amount of time to fully review this Sony 32ex500. I'll go ahead and address the negative flaws this television presents. I originally returned the first 32ex500 because of blatantly horrific backlight bleeding (Clouding). I then received another set that had backlight bleeding, but not as worse. I decided to live with the backlight bleeding on this set however, many people would probably return it because of this. Another negative i have about this television is the power up time which takes about 5-7 seconds and then shows a Sony sign to remind us that it is from Sony.. again there is no way to turn this off and Sony probably will address this issue in the future, but probably not. Third negative is that this the 32ex500 lacks any notification that another hdmi is available and you have to basically switch inputs to check which one was the ps3 or which one was the cablebox.. i know, i know lazy me, but this to me...Read more
