Delivering the ultimate in performance and slim design, the Philips 15PF9925 LCD television can be used in any room of the house. This flat TV offers a 15-inch high-resolution monitor with high brightness and high contrast. The integrated TV tuner, sound system, and Arch tabletop stand complete the picture. Liquid crystal display televisions work by trapping a liquid crystal solution between two sheets of polarized glass. When an electric current is passed through the liquid crystals, they align so light cannot pass through. Each crystal then either blocks or allows light to pass through it based on the broadcast information. For clear, crisp color that rivals traditional CRT (cathode-ray tube) displays, a thin film transistor, known as a TFT is employed. LCD allows screens to be thinner, and televisions lighter and more energy-efficient than ever before. The result is television that not only fits on a wall, but also fits in places conventional televisions cannot.

Summary: Great set for child's room or kitchen 2006-02-25
Comment: Originally this was bought as an LCD to be used in a small, very small apartment. It worked great for that purpose with a bit of eyestrain on my part but that's understandable. It will likely end up in my kid's room in the very near future.
The reception and image on this TV is excellent. Heck, it doesn't get much better. I had digital TV in my small apartment and this LCD provided an awesome picture. It even doubles as a computer monitor or is great for game platforms for which it is currently being used in my home.
I would highly recomment this unit if you have small space and need a TV or want to put this in a child's room or a kitchen. Philips products are well worth their value.

Summary: Good Set 2004-04-09
Comment: I selected this TV based on its compact dimensions for fix in a rennovated kitchen. It has not disappointed. The local cable has 17 HDTV channels and they are very crisp and clear on this set compared to the conventional CRT sets in the house. It was an easy set up - in fact there are so many options you could spend all day tinkering. I just went with a basic straightforward approach and was rewarded with a great picture. Like most HDTV's these days the remote is loaded with buttons your will never use. I plan to get a simple one to turn it on and off and to adjust the volume. This set is perfect for a small space and has good visibility up to about 10 ft. After that the screen is small. I can recommmend this as a great starter set for someone who wants to try the technology but not spend a great deal of money, or someone who wants a great set for a small space.
