This review is from: Iomega ScreenPlay Pro 1 TB USB 2.0/AV/Ethernet HD Multimedia Hard Drive 34151 (Personal Computers)
You can not go wrong with this Multimedia Drive from Iomega unless you get a faulty unit. It worked as advertised out of the box.
It plays most video, photo and audio files from 1.) The inbuilt 1TB drive 2.) A usb external drive 3.) From computers and NAS boxes attached to your network. It connects to your Display via HDMI (supplied), component and composite cables and the picture quality is great. It also accept composite input and display the input on your display. You can then chose to record the input. The recordings played on my Windows Media Player without any additional software.
You can transfer files to the Iomega via the network even while playing or recording. You can also use it as NAS and even for backup.
And most importantly the PSU is rated 100-240V. It means you can use it anywhere in the world!
I wouldn't give 5 stars because 1.) The interface is functional but ugly. It is mostly black and no pictures and no way to change that in the present...Read more

Played awhile with new screenplay.,

I own a screenplay HD 500Gb and really liked it. So I bought the new Screenplay Pro HD 1Tb. First thing I noticed was the new remote, the older model tended to develop problems over extended use. Buttons started to fail. I then noticed the straight RCA to RCA connections. The older screenplay used a RCA to stereo type plug for the component connection. The interface is very different, the previous one went straight to the file structure. The new one goes to a general menu first. Overall is runs better and cooler because of the added fan. I then noticed the input connections and the ability to record straight to the drive(tivo). It has a ethernet port (NAS), hdmi and divx video on demand (not yet supported as a certified device). I am still trying to get the wireless connection to work (only a few supported USB wireless adapters and no idea on setting it up right). The only downside I have found was they removed the shuffle random feature. I used that I lot on the previous...Read more

Living in the USA since 30 month I got bored by the commercials on each of the 72 channels.
I was longing for the German TV contents quality and through a hint of a friend I found www.save.tv a web site that gave me the opportunity to subscribe and to record 25 German TV stations on a network recorder with a capacity of 3000 minutes. With a free provided download manager I could download all records on my PC anytime with 720 X 525 pixels.
Impressed by the quantity of commercial free features and documentary, magazines and political talk shows the rest of the family wanted also to watch. In order to make it visible on the big living room screen I needed to burn the videos on DVD. Mostly that took hours and hours to cut and to convert and to burn. I was looking for a mass storage media that provides the easy operating and high capacity. After a long search I found it: Iomega Screenplay Pro HD! When I received it I plugged it in and it worked right away on HDMI. Copying a 60...Read more
