Enter the world of high-definition television with the affordably priced 42-inch Coby TF-TV4209, perfectly sized for a family-sized home theater set-up. It comes with a stylish desktop stand that can be removed for wall mounting using optional, VESA-compatible hardware. This set has a built-in 181-channel NTSC tuner as well as an ATSC tuner for over-the-air HD reception. You can also view high-definition programming (1080i/720p/480p/480i) when connected to an optional receiver or cable/satellite set-top box via the component video inputs. It also offers pure digital audio/video connectivity via a single cable with the HDMI input.

The TF-TV4209 displays 16.7 million colors and features a 1366 x 768-pixel resolution, 16:9 aspect ratio, 176-degree viewing angle, 500 cd/m2 (candela per square meter) brightness rating, and an amazing 1600:1 contrast ratio. (The higher the contrast ratio, the greater a TV's ability to display subtle color details and not get washed out by ambient room light.) It also offers a very fast 8ms (millisecond) response time, which is great for watching fast-moving. sports and action movies.

The 3D digital comb filter constantly analyzes the three dimensions of picture height, picture width, and picture changes-over-time, to reduce dramatically edge image artifacts while improving transition detail. Other video features include color temperature adjustment, custom picture adjustments (brightness, contrast, sharpness, color, tint), five aspect ratio modes, six picture modes (dynamic, standard, movie, sports, PC, custom), and digital noise reduction. Convenience features include five-position picture-in-picture (PIP) capability, front-panel operation, sleep timer (up to 180 minutes), tri-lingual onscreen display (English, Spanish, Korean), and V-Chip parental controls.

This set has two bottom-mounted, three-way stereo speakers that produce 15 watts per channel (for 30 watts of total power). It also features Dolby Digital surround sound processing and five audio modes (standard, music, film, speech, custom). It offers the following connectivity options:

Component video (also called Y/Pb/Pr) features a three-jack video input, which provides separate connections for luminance (Y), blue color difference (PB) and red color difference (PR). This results in increased bandwidth for color information, resulting in a more accurate picture with clearer color reproduction and less bleeding than you would get with S-Video or composite (RCA yellow video plug) connections. You will need a separate RCA left/right audio cable for sound.

HDMI is a lossless, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface to link any audio/video source (such as a set-top box, DVD player, or AV receiver) with your TV--all over a single cable. It provides up to a 5 GB per second bandwidth for transmitting pure digital video and audio signals with no degradation in the transfer. It can carry up to eight discrete audio channels, making it compatible with 7.1-channel surround sound systems. Signals are encrypted with HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) to prevent recording. HDMI is fully backward-compatible with most DVI connections.
