Amazon.com Product Description
An affordable choice for home theater, the 27-inch Audiovox FPE2706DV saves space with its detachable bottom-mounted speakers and a removable tilting base, which enables you to mount the set to a wall with optional VESA-compatible hardware. And it saves even more space by eliminating the needs for a DVD player component, thanks to the slot-loading DVD player integrated into the back of this set. In addition to playing standard DVD movie and CD audio discs, it's also compatible with playing DVD-R/RW and CD-R/RW discs as well as MP3 audio files and JPEG pictures. It also includes a three-way flash memory port that's compatible with Secure Digital, MMC, and Memory Stick media as well as a USB port for connecting a compatible digital audio player.

This set has a built-in 181-channel NTSC tuner as well as an ATSC tuner for over-the-air HD reception. You can also view high-definition programming (1080i/720p/480p/480i) when connected to an optional receiver or cable/satellite set-top box via the component video inputs.

The FPE2706DV features Faroudja's Emmy award-winning DCDi (Directional Correlational Deinterlacing) technology, which helps to eliminate the jagginess found in non-HD video content. FaroudjaÕs unique DCDi algorithm identifies all the moving edges in a scene and adjusts the angle of interpolation at each pixel so that the interpolation always follows the edge instead of crossing it, eliminating staircasing or jagged edge artifacts.

This set also performs automatic 3:3/2:2 pulldown detection--a handy feature for watching progressive-scan movie programs in their native 24-frame format. To adapt 24 frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video, frames in the original movie must be duplicated; 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this duplication by removing the redundant information to display a frame-accurate picture.

This set has a 1366 x 768-pixel resolution, 16:9 aspect ratio, 176-degree viewing angle, and a 1000:1 contrast ratio. (The higher the contrast ratio, the greater a TV's ability to display subtle color details and not get washed out by ambient room light.) You can also use this set as a PC monitor via the VGA connection. Other features include closed captioning, V-chip parental controls, and SRS surround sound. It provides the following connections:

  • Composite audio/video In: 1
  • S-Video In: 1
  • Component video In: 1
  • RF In: 1
  • PC VGA In: 1 (with PC audio mini-jack)
  • Headphone: 1

Tech Talk
Component video (also called Y/Pb/Pr) features a three-jack video input, which provides separate connections for luminance (Y), blue color difference (PB) and red color difference (PR). This results in increased bandwidth for color information, resulting in a more accurate picture with clearer color reproduction and less bleeding than you would get with S-Video or composite (RCA yellow video plug) connections. You will need a separate RCA left/right audio cable for sound.

What's in the Box
LCD TV with integrated DVD player, composite A/V cable, AC power adapter, remote control (with batteries), removable stand, printed operating instructions

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Unit, value for money at the price i paid., March 9, 2007
This review is from: Audiovox 27" Flat Panel LCD TV with Modular DVD Player & USB Card Port (Electronics)
If i didn't pay only $500.00 for this i probably wouldnt be so excited about it.. but its a solid performer. All the things you expect from a quality LCD, no surprises. Mount it and forget it. The only thing i have a problem with is the range of the Remote, its a bit annoying when i'm pointing it at the display and nothing is happening while i'm pressing buttons frantically to get I love New york off the channel before the wife walks in. So, heres the deal. walk in to PC richards, and ask about the special on this unit.. either i'm a champion negoiator (i dont think so) or they have a great deal on this unit. Get it while you can, although they have no reference of this unit having a built in DVD player, neither did it refrence anything on the box that it had a DVD player, its priced as if it does not have one. Even the sales guy at PC Richards opened the box to check it!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Broke twice and its hard to get parts, October 5, 2008
This review is from: Audiovox 27" Flat Panel LCD TV with Modular DVD Player & USB Card Port (Electronics)
I would not buy this. I paid $600.00, and one week out of warranty it broke, It took me THREE months to try to get it repaired. No repair service could find parts. I finally got Audiovox to fix it, it cost me $100.00 just to mail it, and three months later, the same thing broke again. I would NOT BUY THIS TV!!!! Save yourself alot of aggrevation.
