A great choice for smaller rooms or apartments, the 20-inch Akai LCT2016 LCD television provides vividly colorful images from standard and high-definition television programming as well as DVD movies. You can also use it as a computer monitor with its VGA 15-Pin D-sub input. This LCD TV has a 450 cd/m2 (candela per square meter) brightness rating and 500:1 contrast ratio. (The higher the contrast ratio, the greater a TV's ability to display subtle color details and not get washed out by ambient room light.) It has a 640 x 480-pixel VGA resolution and 120-degree vertical/160-degree vertical viewing angles.

Positive - The picture quality if great.
Negative - Channel Display is very small which makes it hard to see. Also when changing channels it takes a sec or 2 to bring up the next channel, so for the remote control junkie who likes the surf the channels this could be frustrating. I had to turn the base up to full and the treble all the way down to get the audio to sound fine and it does by doing this.
Bottom Line - I got a good deal for less that $300 so overall I am satisfied.

We actually bought this 20 inch tv a year ago and was amazed at the color quality. I am very picky with my tvs and we took a gamble since we have never heard of this brand. My husband and I felt the color was so great that we can't wait until we can afford a bigger Akai. We moved recently and our television wasn't mounted yet and the cat knocked it down and it broke. We just bought a "sorta known brand" LCD today at 5:00 AM and when my husband got it turned on we noticed that the color and picture is fussy and I immediately complained that it wasn't as good as our old Akai. I was really bummed until I got on Amazon and saw this tv advertised. So excited. Worth getting.

I bought this television last year as a gift for a relative. I paid full price for it because it was a new item with a one year warranty (or so I thought). In less than a year, the television stopped working and I had it sent to a local Akai Authorized Repair Center. He informed me that the item was a REFURBISHED TV with only a 30-DAY WARRANTY. After several weeks of phone calls to Amazon Customer Service, I received only 80 percent of my money back. So, Let The Buyer Beware.
